Clear Lake Intermediate students began the public meeting with the pledge.

During the February meeting, the board recognized the vast accomplishments of the Robotics program in CCISD.  The high school Robonauts Team won first place at the 2015 Texas VEX State competition. CCISD’s Team Jigsaw is comprised of students from four high schools and recently ranked third place at the 2014 Texas Championship Series of BEST.  Westbrook Intermediate’s Wired team earned the first place BEST Award at the USTEM Competition and League City Intermediate’s RoboCats team won 2nd place in BEST. Bauerschlag Elementary and Clear Lake City Elementary were named CCISD District Champions at the elementary level of Vex IQ Robotics.

The board received an annual report from the Clear Creek Education Foundation. In the past year, the foundation has raised more than $310,000, a record amount, in support of CCISD teachers and innovative programs.

Community Input

One member of the public provided community input regarding special education.

Board Items of Interest

The board authorized an order authorizing the issuance of Clear Creek Independent School District Unlimited Tax Refunding Bonds in one or more series. The bond market is favorable at this time and the district will sell the last $67 million from its 2013 bond referendum. In addition, there is also an opportunity to refinance existing debt at a far lower rate. The district anticipates a $16 million savings over time due to low interest rates.

District subject-matter committees of 125 teachers, parents and administrators have completed the process for reviewing instructional materials for K-12 Social Studies, High School Mathematics, and K-12 Fine Arts. The board accepted the following vendors to allow the district to purchase $7.1 million of instructional resources. 2014-15 Resource Adoption

The District proclaimed the week of March 2-6, 2015 as Texas Public Schools Week.
