New Voices Discovered in CCISD Singing Competition

League City, TX – The Department of Visual and Performing Arts hosted the 5th annual So You Think You Can Sing? Competition on January 10, 2015 at Bayside Intermediate School. Sponsored by the CCISD Choral Music Department, the event features choir students from almost every campus in the District.

The 22 elementary, 9 intermediate and six high school singers won the right to represent their school by submitting an audition video that was selected as the best by a campus judging committee. Visual and Performing Arts Director, Dean Muths, announced the winners to the delight of the crowd. In the Elementary Division, congratulations go to Christina Colocado of Gilmore Elementary School. She sang “My Heart Will Go On.” The Intermediate trophy was awarded to Sophia Sereni for her rendition of “Mercy.” Sereni attends Clear Creek Intermediate School. The High School winner is Madison LaSota of Clear Lake High School who performed “Mercy On Me.”

The Elementary Honor Choir, Clear Springs High School Choral Group “Rhythm and Blue” and the Clear Falls High School Troubadours performed as well during intermission. Video of the event can be viewed online for the elementary performances and the secondary performances.  Photos may also be viewed online. The winners were selected by a panel of three judges.
