A Special Message To Our Taxpayers

Dr. Smith and Dr. DuPontThe Clear Creek Independent School District is a destination for families in search of a quality education as indicated by the 695 new students who enrolled in CCISD this year and a 2016 phone survey where nine out of ten respondents said they would recommend CCISD to a friend moving into the area. One of the key reasons families choose Clear Creek ISD is because we have a record of academic success. Today, our students are outperforming their state, national and global peers on college entrance exams and advanced placement tests. Your district is also preparing students for careers after graduation with more than 1,519 workforce certifications earned by CCISD students last year. We also take pride in the fact that our school district ranks among the top places to work in the Houston area as reported by the Houston Chronicle, and has been for the past five years. Your district also received the highest rating of five stars for student achievement and managing money by Texas Smart Schools, a non-profit watchgroup of public schools.

Last fall, student enrollment growth coupled with aging facilities and other capital needs prompted CCISD to convene a special committee of taxpayers to address enrollment growth, aging facilities, student and campus safety, curricular and co-curricular programs, and technology. The CCISD Citizens Facility Advisory Committee met for five months, toured campuses, reviewed thousands of documents, asked tough questions, held several public meetings, and conducted a phone survey before making a recommendation to the school board to call for a bond election. Between the work of the committee and the school board, voters will consider authorizing the school district to issue $487 million in bonds on May 6 to do the work outlined in this guide. If approved by voters, the bond program will result in a $0.035 tax rate increase on the Interest and Sinking tax rate of your school taxes.

Just as our academic record is important to you, so is our fiscal record. The Clear Creek Independent School District has received a Superior rating, the highest possible distinction, from the Texas Education Agency’s Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas for over 12 years. Clear Creek ISD’s current and proposed debt will be paid off within 24 years, positioning CCISD at the lower end of debt-per-student compared to other school districts that rely on bond programs.

May 6, 2017 is also an election for District 2 and District 3 positions of the Clear Creek Independent School District Board of Trustees.

It is our goal to ensure each taxpayer in the Clear Creek Independent School District is an informed voter on education issues. Please carefully review this guide and get out to vote. Early voting begins April 24 and runs through May 2 with polls closed on Sunday, April 30. Election day is Saturday, May 6. We have ten standard early voting locations. In an effort to bring the vote to your neighborhood, early voting election sites have been added to 12 additional schools on select dates. To find your polling place visit
