The Clear Creek Independent School District is proud to announce the 2016 principals of the year. Xan Wood, principal of League City Elementary (LCE), was named the Elementary Principal of the Year and Lauren Ambeau, principal of Brookside Intermediate, was named the Secondary Principal of the Year. They were nominated by their peers as both campus and district leaders.
Wood has been principal of LCE for the past four years and has been a part of Clear Creek ISD in various roles since 1996. She is a fourth generation teacher in her family.
“My favorite thing about being principal at LCE is working with students that want to be at school and work hard to grow and be successful,” said Wood, who added how honored she feels to be chosen as the Principal of the Year. “Our staff members are passionate about students’ needs and create experiences that allow students to develop a love for learning. I truly love going to work each day!”
Ambeau was assistant principal at Falcon Pass Elementary and then principal at Ferguson Elementary for four years before becoming a Brookside Bulldog as principal for the past two years. She also found her love for teaching through her mother who worked as a special education teacher and diagnostician.
“I am humbled and honored to be chosen as Secondary Principal of the Year,” said Ambeau. “I am surrounded by excellence in this District, so to be selected is truly the deepest honor. This has little to do with me and so much more to do with the amazing students, staff, and community I am so fortunate to work alongside.”
They will both be honored at a luncheon hosted by the Rotary Clubs of Space Center, Seabrook and League City on May 22, 2017 along with the campus teachers of the year to announce the 2016 Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year.
