Art students across Clear Creek ISD and at all school levels were recognized for their artistic abilities. The students were honored for their achievements in the Texas Capitol Art Contest, Scholastic Art, and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
Three CCISD students earned regional honors at the History Bee competition.
Two CCISD students earned first and second place at the CCISD Spelling Bee competition.
Clear Lake High School and Clear Springs High School academic decathlon teams advanced to the State competition.

Board Items of Interest
The consent agenda was approved minus the item #16 related to the Credit by Exam policy. The board asked for further clarification. The item was pulled.
The 2017-2018 budget goals, assumptions were approved as presented. This list of board priorities reflects feedback and input from various parent/staff committees and district administration.
The district sought approval to add 20 teaching units for the 2017-2018 school year for enrollment growth and student services. This is the time when school district begin recruiting core and elective teachers for the following school year. The all in cost is $60,000 per teaching unit (benefits included) this year.
The debt service fund has accumulated an excess fund balance of $12 million. The Board of Trustees approved a resolution to reduce the district’s debt through defeasment, or commonly known as paying off debt early with available cash. The district’s bond counsel says this is something that very few school districts have ever done in Texas. “In 25 years, I have never done this size of defeasement like this for a school district.” Ryan O’Hara.
