 To be eligible two things must be true:
• your disability must keep you from being able to work
• DARS must conclude that you have the potential to get and keep a job after receiving services from them.

Harris Center (Formerly MHMR for Harris County)
Gulf Coast Center (Formerly MHMR for Galveston County)

This organization has services divided by counties. If you live in Harris County, your services may differ from Galveston or Brazoria Counties. Services are divided into Mental Health and Mental Retardation services. Autism and ADHD fall under metal retardation. 

To be eligible you must be:
A child or adolescent between 3 and 17 currently residing in the county with a diagnosis of mental illness exhibiting serious emotional, behavioral, or mental disorders who:
• has serious functional impairment at home, school, or in the community,
• is at risk of losing current living situation of choice,
• is enrolled in a school system’s special education program because of serious emotional disturbance or,
• has experienced multiple hospitalizations or is at imminent risk for hospitalization.
