Elementary - Art & Music for All
Students enrolled in CCISD receive visual art instruction from certified art teachers beginning in Kindergarten. The K-5 art program develops students’ visual literacy skills using critical thinking, imagination, and observation to create original works of art. Student artwork is displayed at a variety of campus and district events, such as the Rodeo Art and Youth Art Month exhibitions, to demonstrate classroom learning and celebrate students’ creativity.
CCISD students receive music instruction beginning in Kindergarten from certified music instructors. The K-5 music program is designed to provide joyful experiences for students, while allowing them to develop the skills and processes needed to be successful in the music classroom and beyond. The study of the elements of elementary general music - rhythm, melody/pitch, expression, form, timbre - and the process of learning music skills allow for creative expression in a wide variety of styles. While public performances are not the primary focus of the CCISD elementary music program, students may participate in a variety of grade-appropriate campus or district events.
Intermediate - Grow Your Talents
The intermediate school art program offers a comprehensive art education that provides students enriched opportunities for creative expression. These courses are designed for students who wish to learn to draw, paint, design, sculpt, study the great masters of art, and develop confidence in their creative expression. Elements of art history, production, aesthetics, and criticism will be included. Varying levels of instruction are offered.
The intermediate school band program offers a comprehensive instrumental music education that provides outlets for creativity for students who wish to learn to play musical instruments. Elements of music history, performance, reading and writing music, and evaluation are included. Varying levels of instruction are offered. Band classes meet during regular school hours. Rehearsals, competitions, and performances may be required before and after school, evenings, or weekends.
Music and Choir
The intermediate school choir program offers a comprehensive vocal music education that provides creative outlets for students who wish to learn to sing and move rhythmically. Elements of music history, performance, reading and writing music, and evaluation will be included. Varying levels of instruction are offered. Choir classes meet during regular school hours. Rehearsals, competitions, and performances may be required before and after school, evenings, or weekends.
Orchestra provides many fun and unique opportunities for students who wish to play a stringed instrument. Classes are designed to suit student needs from beginning through advanced levels. Classes meet during school hours. Elements of music history, performance, reading and writing music, and evaluation will be included. Orchestra performances include a wide variety of music on and off campus. Occasional rehearsals and performances may be required before and after school or evenings.
The intermediate school theatre programs offer a comprehensive theatrical education that provides creative outlets for students who wish to learn to act, direct, build sets, and develop confidence in creative and public speaking. Elements of theatre history, performance, reading and writing scripts, and evaluation will be included. Varying levels of instruction are offered. Theatre classes meet during regular school hours. Rehearsals, competitions, and performances may be required before and after school, evenings, or weekends.
High School - Take Center Stage
The high school art program in Clear Creek ISD provides students with multiple opportunities for personalized creative expression through a variety of art experiences, techniques, and media. Courses in Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Ceramics, and Jewelry are available after a student has completed Art I or Advanced Art I. Additionally, four Advanced Placement courses (Art History, 2D Design, 3D Design, and Drawing) are available for highly-motivated students who are prepared for college-level work. CCISD students may enter their work in district, area, state, and national contests including the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, Scholastic Art Contest, VASE, Youth Art Month and many others.
CCISD students who elect to take band have opportunities to perform in a variety of marching band, concert band, full orchestra, jazz ensemble and small ensemble settings. Students also participate in events designed to develop their individual technique such as Solo and Ensemble Contest, Region Tryouts and concerto competitions. Public performance is an integral part of the band experience through participation at UIL competitions in addition to campus and local concerts across the community.
Non-instrumental students may also be part of the marching band through participation in our Color Guard and Winter Guard programs.
The Choir and Vocal Ensemble classes in CCISD provide students with the opportunity to work on a variety of musical performing styles and techniques, and to improve self-expression through vocal performance activities. Course work emphasizes ensemble singing, music theory, listening, and performance. Classes may be composed of all males or females, or may be mixed according to the number and distribution of voices. Choral groups participate in UIL and TMEA competitions, and perform at campus and local events.
Dance classes in CCISD provide students of all levels of experience with the opportunity to explore the basic movement fundamentals: ballet, jazz, tap, world dance, modern, and choreography. Students are introduced to dance technique and kinesthetic awareness, movement vocabulary, choreography, creative expression, musicality, and dance history. In addition, students have the opportunity to perform basic dance skills which increases their self-confidence, self-discipline, and dance appreciation.
Students may also audition for a position on one of the five high school Dance Teams. The dance team experience provides students with an advanced dance curriculum focused on fast-paced complex movement and technical skills, and refined kinesthetic and spatial awareness. Membership in the dance team is a full year commitment that includes performances at multiple venues within the district and local communities.
In orchestra, students learn to develop their skills through performances at concerts, festivals and competitions as participants in various ensembles which include string orchestra, full orchestra and chamber orchestra. Students also hone their individual performance skills by participating in Solo and Ensemble contest along with Region Tryouts and concerto competitions. Each program also competes at UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest in the spring semester. In this variety of settings, students will experience the enjoyment and appreciation of all styles of music.
In Clear Creek ISD, theatre students develop their talents through a variety of theatrical experiences. Whether on the stage or behind the scenes, students gain an appreciation for the arts and while learning to communicate creatively and work in a team-oriented environment. Classroom instruction and audition-based performances allow students to explore and create through the development of acting skills, physical movement, use of makeup and costuming, lighting, sound, set design and construction. Each campus participates in UIL One Act Play and hosts an annual musical production.
