CCISD provides students multiple opportunities to understand and assume their role as productive citizens. These opportunities are provided at all levels of the school system.
Below are just a sampling of such opportunities.
Student Leadership: Each school has a form of student governance. Students are elected by their peers to work with teachers and administrators on projects to improve their school and community.
Student Mentorship: All CCISD Comprehensive high schools have a robust and popular mentoring program known as Peer Assistance League (PALs). These high school students regularly visit their neighboring elementary schools to work with their younger peers on school work and school activities.
Service Learning: Whether it is knitting quilts for a nursing home or creating a wetlands for endangered species, our students are truly making an impact on their world. Each school and each grade level is expected to design and execute a service learning project. As one can imagine, the scope of the work is largely dependent on the grade level.
