Will Stromeyer

Please share some background about you and your interest in serving on the Clear Creek Independent School District Board of Trustees.

I was born and raised in the district and have lived here most of my adult life.  I currently have a 1st grader in the district.  As an alumnus, I have always taken pride in the area and want to see our district continue to thrive.

I come from a large family of educators and know firsthand the difficulties that teachers can face.

I work for a large insurance company handling complex property claims.

List your participation in CCISD schools and/or district parent clubs, community and civic involvement, etc.

I have been an active Science Fair judge for the Secondary District Fair since 2008, now serving as a team lead.  As a sports official, I have worked countless intermediate and high school football and soccer games since 2003.

In my neighborhood I am active with the Homeowners Association, serving on the board since 2011.

I am also an active participant with the Foundation for International Space Education, serving on the admissions committee for several years now.

Considering your skills and talents, what positive contribution would you make as a member of the Board of Trustees?

I work every day balancing the needs of a customer with what is reasonable for my company to expend.  Communication is a key component and is a constant part of my job, as well as a necessity on the board.  Good communication creates transparency.  When transparency exists on both fronts, it creates less problems overall.

As a member of a teacher family, I also understand the difficult job they perform and what can be reasonably expected versus a fantasy.  I will work to make sure our teachers are properly cared for and our district keeps succeeding.

In your opinion, what role do trustees play in affecting student success?

Trustees in part hold the district accountable, both in terms of financial and measurable student success.  The Trustees must make sure that we set our children up for success, which is done by proper resource allocation, identifying the ever-evolving new trends and needs in education, and responding in kind.

What critical challenges face the district, and what are possible solutions to address those issues?

Preparing students for beyond high school is always a challenge that is faced.  For decades, the focus was college and college only.  We, as a district and society, have started shifting away from that focus, bringing back certain trades into the education landscape.  I would like to see this addressed even more going forward, working with other school districts in the area to grow our offerings and set up all students for the best chance at success in life, whatever that may look like for each individual.

Please provide campaign website and/or contact information.
