Alumni Spotlight: Mike and Allyne Rattliff

RattliffClear Creek ISD has celebrated many significant milestones within the Bond 2017 program, which was passed in May of that year by voters. One being the completion of the major renovation and expansion at Clear Lake City Elementary. 

Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies tend to become reunions of people whose pasts are intertwined with the campus. The February 11 Clear Lake City Elementary Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was one such gathering. As the school, District leaders and community came together to celebrate the newly renovated campus, Superintendent Dr. Greg Smith shared in his remarks that there were two very special Thunderbirds in the audience.

Mike and Allyne Rattliff share a unique connection with the campus and Clear Creek ISD. The couple first met while attending Webster Junior High. Graduating in 1961, they went their separate ways until reconnecting in 2004 at a Clear Creek High School Alumni luncheon. Forty-three years after graduating, a romance blossomed between the two. wedding

Flash forward to 2006 as Allyne, a first-grade teacher at Clear Lake City Elementary, was celebrating her retirement and informed the staff that, “By the way, you are all invited to our wedding in ten minutes in the library.” With family by her side and her fellow first grade teachers as bridesmaids, Allyne married Mike in a ceremony officiated by CLCE fifth grade teacher Sheila Hines, an ordained minister. Channel 13 broadcast the ceremony on live TV.

Allyne’s parents were Alan and Arlyne Weber, whom after Weber Elementary School was named.

“Mike and Allyne are such a special couple,” said Kari Euker, Counselor of Clear Lake City Elementary.

They are just lots of fun and continue to be so supportive of our school and students.”
