Special Education Parent Advisory Committee

Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (SEPAC) 

The Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (SEPAC) serves in an advisory to the Superintendent and the district’s Special Education Leadership Team. The goal of SEPAC is to provide two-way communication and collaboration between parents and district leadership to improve the programs and services for students with disabilities. The SEPAC supports the mission of the Special Education Parent Teacher Association (SEPTA). The two organizations are mutually supportive and members regularly collaborate. 

Guidelines 

1. Student-Centered: Consider the best interest of each student. 

2. Respect: Value the perspective of each person. 

3. Collaboration:Work as a team to examine services, practices, and recommend improvements. 

4. Service: Serve the needs of each student receiving special education services. 

Membership Selection Process 

The SEPAC is composed of one parent from each school. Members apply to serve on the committee by completing an online application on the district website. All members shall be selected by random drawing according to the school the student attends. Employees of the District shall not be eligible to serve on the committee.
