Clear Creek ISD announced that starting on November 2, 2020, the Clear Connections Online Learning Program will be available for Pre-Kindergarten students. The new online option, available in English and Spanish programming, is now offered to families who qualify for free Pre-Kindergarten and whose children are identified as at risk.

To qualify for free Pre-Kindergarten, the child must:

  • Reside in Clear Creek ISD
  • Turn 4 years old on or before September 1, 2020
and meet one of the following criteria:
  • Limited English proficiency
  • Economically disadvantaged
  • Homeless
  • The child of a parent in the military or injured or killed while actively serving in the military
  • In or have been in the conservatorship of the state of Texas
  • The child of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award as a peace officer, firefighter or emergency medical first responder

The online learning program is also now available for Early Childhood Special Education students.

“The pandemic looks a little different for everyone,” said Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education Holly Hughes. “We heard from many parents who were interested in starting their child’s learning in Pre-Kindergarten but their personal circumstances did not align yet with the Brick and Mortar environment. We want to provide options that fit every family’s comfort level, especially those facing hardships, so we worked to develop an online instruction option for young learners to help jump start their education.”

The online learning program will include asynchronous lessons guided by a certified Pre-K teacher focusing on five content areas: Social emotional skills, pre-reading and writing skills, phonological awareness and alphabet knowledge, math, science and social studies. In asynchronous learning, students engage in the learning materials, interacting regularly with the teacher via a computer or other electronic device.

Upon the family’s request, the District will issue a device for students who enroll and qualify for the Clear Connections Pre-K program.

Whether enrolling for Brick or Mortar or Clear Connections, families may enroll in Pre-K at any time during the school year at

For residents who live within CCISD boundaries, Clear Creek ISD also offers free half-day and full-day early learning programs for families who qualify, as well as a tuition-based Pre-K program on a space available basis. For the 2020-2021 school year, CCISD is offering either full-day or half-day Pre-K programs for four-year-old children at the following 19 campuses (underlined campuses offer full-day programming): Armand Bayou, Bauerschlag, Bay, Campbell, Clear Lake City, Falcon Pass, Goforth, Greene, Hyde, Landolt, League City, McWhirter, North Pointe, Ross, Stewart, Ward, Weber, Wedgewood and Whitcomb elementary schools.
